How it works
You give us the inputs. We research the public record.
Profspect turns a handful of inputs into a scored, source-linked report with a term-by-term plan, built around your goals, not a rating of anyone.
Two ways in: Full Plan derives your entire remaining course list from your transcript and plans it; Course Check vets the specific courses you name. Full Plan simply skips the "courses to analyze" step and works out the path for you.
Step 1
Tell us your goals
Your school, major, student type, planning horizon, and one to three ranked goals. For a Full Plan, your transcript too.
Step 2
We research the public record
Catalogs, posted syllabi, public course schedules, articulation guidance, and student-review sites, read, re-expressed, and linked.
Step 3
You get a sourced, sequenced plan
A scored report that vets each viable course and section on observable axes and lays out a term-by-term plan. It arrives by email.
The details
What happens at each step.
About you
The basics
Your current school, whether you are an incoming freshman or a transfer (and your target school if you are transferring), your major, and how far ahead you are planning: next semester, next year, or a full plan.
Your goals
Ranked, in your words
Add one to three goals and rank them: GPA stability, research experience, writing development, career preparation, lighter workload, schedule flexibility. Everything in the report is scored relative to these. Goals are about what you want from a class, never about judging a person.
Transcript · required for Full Plan, optional for Course Check
Parsed, then confirmed by you
Upload a transcript (PDF or image) and we parse the courses you have completed, then show them back to you to confirm or correct before anything continues. Full Plan plans from this, so it is required there; Course Check can use it for prerequisite context, or you can skip it. Your transcript is deleted after your report is delivered.
Courses to analyze · Course Check only
The classes you are weighing
On Course Check, add the course code and title, plus any instructor names you already know. Do not know who is teaching? Leave it as "unknown" and the research step discovers who has recently taught it from public schedules. On Full Plan you skip this entirely; we derive your remaining course list for you.
Then
We research, score, and deliver
We research public sources, extract and re-express what they say, and attach a link to every finding. The result vets each viable course and section on observable axes (grading approach, workload, assessment structure, format, available resources, responsiveness), scores fit to your goals, and lays out a term-by-term plan. It arrives by email.
A note on sourcing
We extract and link. We never copy.
We distill facts and aggregate sentiment from public pages and re-express them in our own words with a link back to the source. We do not reproduce source text, and we retrieve at a human pace without logging into any account. If a source ever objects, we stop. Findings describe how a course or section runs; they are not statements about anyone's character.
